There was still no national stay-at-home order.
The states were left to fend for themselves, as the Orange Leader tweeted that the federal government was just, “backup.” She tuned in to the slim, no-nonsense newscaster who apparently was so fed up that she simply had no more fucks to give. She looked straight in the camera and said, “This is insane.” And then she proceeded to state in all the ways in which the situation was indeed, nuts. There were still states that had over a thousand cases of infected citizens, but the governors didn’t want to give a state-wide order to stay home. They didn’t want to interrupt the church goers who praised their god, or the capitalists who worshiped the almighty dollar. But people were dying in their own state, the hospitals were overrun- what would dollars be worth if everyone was dead? There was no business in hawking wares to corpses. These governors were the sycophants of the Orange Leader. They worshiped him and did what he said, regardless of their actual feelings for the person he truly was. If he gave the order for everyone to shelter in place except in essential tasks such as getting groceries and medicine, the governors would fall in line and lives would be saved. Why didn’t he do it? What was he waiting for? No one knew. No one could understand his tiny, microscopic, egotistical brain. Everyone knew he was a complete and utter narcissist, but this was next level.
Instead of just giving states the resources they needed, the military put the items up for the highest bidder- a government level Ebay, and states had to compete with each other, and even other countries. The government itself could even bid, and then give the spoils to states led by the sycophants. And that, was what was happening. The states with governors who belonged to the opposite party of the Orange Leader’s political party were given minimal supplies, many of which were broken or expired; he saw these governors as his “enemy.” States with his “friends” got more than enough supplies, and in many instances, more than they had even asked for. It was sick.
Were we all four years old?
Was this regime completely unable to play like big boys and girls and work together, just once, in a national emergency? Apparently not. He was still playing games, calling names, and making snarky comments at anyone who expressed dissent against him or his policies. How did this grown man ever graduate kindergarten?
Her mind started to wander, pondering the concept of “social promotion.”
Six thousand people in her own country were dead. Six thousand lives, many of which were needlessly over. How many deaths could have been prevented if there had been a national stay-at-home order? How many health professionals would still be here if they had the proper personal protective equipment?
Could one person be blamed?
